Frigate President Sarmiento Boat Museum

Fragata Presidente Sarmiento

The Frigate President Sarmiento, anchored in the central Buenos Aires zone of Puerto Madero, contains an exhibit on Argentina’s navy, its educational tours and the ports in which the Frigate docked during the last years of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.

This vessel, launched for the first time in 1897, was present at the coronations of King Edward VII of Great Britain, King Alfonso XII of Spain and King George V of Great Britain, at the 100th Anniversary of Mexico’s Independence, at the opening of the Panama Canal and at many other historic occasions.

Photographs of these events can be found onboard the Frigate President Sarmiento, which is visited by thousands of people each year.
